That City Across The Bay

I normally am not a fan of going to SF. I know its crazy but its so busy and I feel like Oakland offers similar terrain but is closer to home. Well I think yesterday was a turning point for me and the "City". Picked up Josh and decided to give Noah a call and see if he was down to come with, and he was. We stopped by DLX and got Noah some new thane then headed to some blocks under the overpass. We proceeded to a few other spots. Civic Center, a rail off Mission, and some ledges near a Best Buy off Mission. Got the boot at almost all the spots pretty quick but on the whole it was a successful trip. Two funny bits to share...at Civic Center a hobo sleeping in the park took a swipe at Noah cuz we were making too much noise skating the gap. Also as a security guard was booting us from the rail spot I asked if there was a place to get coffee near by and he said" Nah I'm good I just had some". Bro...you are kicking us out and you think I'm offering to get you coffee? Those crazy city folks.

Peace Wall and 8 Stair

Sitting at home on heavy cavalry status. Woke up this a.m. and was juiced to go and shoot, but the wife is feeling a little tapped and needed my help around the house with the kids and chores. I have learned to be patient. So my post is going to be brief cuz I need to get it in while she and the youngest are catchin' a little cat nap. Yesterday I did some skating and shooting with some new faces. If you watch the blog you will recognize some, but Nick, and Alex are new. Session was first at Peace Wall, some blocks with coped ledges, and an 8 stair behind the Cal baseball field. Not a huge yield but I know that every time I shoot there could only be a few keepers. Well tomorrow is another day and I hope my patience today will pay off with a session tomorrow.

Rain, Rain Go Away

As I'm writing this weather outside is full on. I guess after 5-6 months of dry, mother nature had the right to stomp. Well as I set off to collect the crew and get out yesterday afternoon to skate and shoot weather was on its way. I grabbed Jonathan, Dukie, Buddah, and Kevin and headed over to the park in Pacifica. As we parked the guys did the "rain, rain go away come again another day." Guess it worked cuz all through out the session it threatened to rain but some how could not quite pull it off. Weather treated me and my trusty d700 to some sweet conditions. Moody clouds and killer light to pull off some dramatic shots. I continue to work on my strobist skills, and I feel like the more I do it the better I get. Keep at it and improve.

A Frame Rail Session

So the Richmond park continues to be the hot spot. The last time out the mission was to try and get some more shots of my boy Josh Sanchez who started riding for ipath. I picked the lad up and went over to the park. After a warm up session on the curved block and low to high manny pad we moved our gear over to the a frame rail. Josh and Jonathan proceeded to put on a clinic. Shots were had and a good time was had. I love it when a plan comes together!

Add A Trick

It feels like the photography thing is getting ready to bubble. I am not gonna get to ahead of myself but I have had a few things come together lately...and I'm going to share one of these things now and as others firm up they will get some space here. So the "thing" in question is a director of photography position with a web site targeting amateur skaters who are trying to get out there and get some exposure. Ron Allen of Osiris, Creation and Satori skates at the Berkeley park and we have talked about how I am trying to break into the skate photography arena. One day the conversation moved that way and he said he would talk to some of the producers and creative guys and show them some of my work. Apparently the guys were into what I had to show and the next thing you know I'm shooting some production stuff going on at a few locations around the Berkeley area. I'm super juiced to say the least. Stay tuned for addatrick.com premier and hopefully yours truly will be playing a part in what feels like a killer project.
